Zaus

Formed in 1995 by Norbert Bieber and Jürgen Kotzian as an informal outfit fusing rock elements with even then primitive electronics and electroacoustic experimentations, ZAUS quickly turned into a recording and performance collective with ever-changing contributors. While Kotzian quit musical activities after the recording of the first album in 1998, Bieber has continued production work under the synonym ZAUS until now. Not bound to any style at all since influenced by a musical spectrum ranging from Abba to Merzbow, the music of ZAUS oscillates between German rock and free-form soundscapes, regularily decorated with a touch of (self-)irony and surrealism.

In 2008 ZAUS released full length album 'Congregation' on the netlabel Clinical Archives and developed the socio-acoustic live performance SONIC MAZE.

Bieber (b.1971) is also part of electro-jazzers 'The Black Hakawati', the fabulous music collective T/M/K and creates walls of sound with tiny little jaw harps with 'Kadoing'.
