Mortero is an Ecuadorian rock fusion band. They describe their music themselves as a "product of the fusion of metal, hip-hop, funk, hardcore, with some electronic influences".
Starting at the city of Ambato in 1997, they quickly won lots of fans not only in Ecuador's hard rock but also it's independent scene (which are not seperated much). In the early 00s they won several people's choice awards for best (rock) artist in their country. They have attended to several festivals in Ecuador and released one EP - Clima Violento in 1998 - and one CD - Sala de Espera in 2003, second edition*) in 2005 - yet.

*) Most Ecuadorian discs hardly sell 500 copies, debt on the poverty in Ecuador and the lack of protection of intelectual rights. A second edition shows big success.
