SkyHunter played original, guitar-drenched, soulful, bluesy rock. Powerful and melodic, the music recalls the classic rock of the 70s but with a modern edge.
Formed in 2005 by singer, guitarist and songwriter Martin Smith, the band was originally a blues and blues-rock band under the name "Red House Blues". Changes in personnel have led to a more hard rock oriented sound (although a strong bluesy feel remains on many tracks). The band changed name in 2007 to "SkyHunter" to reflect this move away from pure blues.
The 2007-8 SkyHunter line-up playing on these recordings was: Martin Smith (vocals and lead guitar), Ian Gilbertson (guitar), Bill Major (bass) and Freya Page (drums).
Martin Smith has since moved on to primarily focus on performing jazz.
