John Björk aka Rymdljus was introduced to music when starting to play the violin as a small child. Growing up in a family where music was always central and always very acoustic, meeting the amplified music from bands like Metallica, Radiohead and Soundgarden was a game changer which almost immediately led him to start a band.
The next big musical love affair was Samba percussion. Playing in "A Bunda - Escola de Samba de Gotemburgo" since early 2000 has certainly made Brazilian rhythms an integrated part of Johns musical output.
The missing link was discovering the dance music artists like Todd Terje, Lindstrøm and by accident stumbling on a record by Genius of Time (in Berlin) which led to a deep dive into the Swedish scene of instrumental electronic music.
Early 2018 the debut EP Rymmas was released and before the year was ended the single Övergångsrit and even if the violin is mostly collecting dust these days it probably played a part in the sound where string are often combined with both electronic drums and sampled percussion beats.
