Artist Detailed Info: Petrushka

Petrushka is a Barcelona-based power trio, formed in september 2006 with the aim of exploring the common ground of its members, with diverse musical backgrounds. Their mix of rock, free jazz, psychedelia and abstract improvisation results in an energetic musical output, where many aesthetic traditions converge in a very personal statement.

In the summer of 2006, multi-instrumentalist and composer Ignacio Lois proposed the idea to Julián Mansilla, guitarist and music teacher. The lineup was complete with electric and acoustic drummer Julio Silvetti. Rehearsals began in september that year, aiming to develop a personal language, and making the process fun to undertake. Towards January 2007 there was a repertoire of original material, cover versions and improvs, which was premiered alongside Aixònoéspànic. Since then Petrushka is broadening its expressive means and repertoire, and performing live in the Barcelona area.
