
From the Plexus Group, a band that played Rock copying the idols of the time, were formed perspective, an important band in the panorama of Portuguese Rock, in the second half of the 70 years of the twentieth century. The core of the band was formed by TO Pinheiro da Silva (guitar, flute and vocals) and Carlos Viana (electric piano). The remaining crew members were: Luis Miguel (bass), Raul Rosa (drums), Victor Royal (voice). To these would join later, Joseph Firmin (percussion, vocals) and Jose Manuel (guitar).
The band, one of the first to go down the style "symphonic" and "progressive" (a couple of Tantra), formed in Barreiro. Tó Pinheiro da Silva was a member of another band very important at this time, the Band of the Coat.
After trying to deal with Valentine de Carvalho, by delivering a "storyboard" to Mario Martins, preying seriously (after being driven from one location in their hometown because they were too much "noise", started doing it in an old abandoned mill) and participate in many shows across the country.
In 1976 get a recording contract with Imavox, where he managed to get after being heard by George and Madi, producers of this record company, where he scored as directors and Nuno Rodrigues António Pinho. The first album recorded by the band was the "single" entitled "Outside the City," which contained the two on the theme "Men of my land." These subjects were followed for a symphony orchestra, to give a tone more "symphonic" the band's music. Highly praised by critics, this album is now a Portuguese record of the great rarities.
In 1977 new record "single" with the title "Dead King, King Tour" in which the B side was occupied with the theme "The Eighth Smile." The band's lyricist service Beiramar was Joseph who wrote the poems revealing with great intensity and great feelings and pointing humanistic sociological problems common to the Portuguese people.
The magazine "Rock In Portugal," at the time the only way the media interest in the phenomenon of Rock sung or done by the Portuguese has always been dedicated defender of the quality of the band, having emerged as one of the "Bands Year "in 1977. It was also the "Rock In Portugal" who invited to participate in Outlook launch party for the magazine, through participation in a Rock Festival in the pavilion of the Athletic Club de Campo Ourique in Lisbon, where the perspective were the big winners. Participants also Kontrol and Hosanna.
In May 1978 the same magazine produces a long interview with the band members, which are the cover of the issue. In this interview was to know the difficulties that rock musicians at the time passed. The market was facing what came from abroad (and not yet on the radio play-lists) and it was Portuguese was not well accepted by the market.
The curiosity of this interview was the presence of a photograph "Nacib" the Brazilian soap opera "Gabriela", after the interviewer's request to Armando Bogus (now sadly deceased) your permission to pose along with the perspective. In the live shows, held in the ruins of the Carmo Convent, the band came to perform with the symphony orchestra of the RDP, but the experience was not very successful and was eventually abandoned.
Other themes of the band, made known through their concerts, were "The Fifth Part Of The World" (a long poem / hymn to freedom) in addition to "South", "North" or "The First Flower." Was scheduled recording of what would prove to be the first LP of the band even had the title. It would be titled "The Fifth Part Of The World", but never see the light of day because the band did terminate his musical activities.
Tó Pinheiro da Silva continued the musical labors, not only as a member of the Band of the Coat, until his disappearance, but also as a recording engineer and studio technician. With the latter specialty had the opportunity to travel the world as it was the sound technician Madredeus until 1997. As a coach studio recorded with a plethora of Portuguese artists some very important albums of our music scene.
Carlos Viana also followed a musical career as a leading composer Jorge Fernando and his musician (keyboardist). He also participated in shows and in the disks of the House Nuno Pereira, José Manuel Barreto (also as a composer), Paul Braganza, Badaro (also as a composer). He participated as a composer on the last disc of Ana Moura, "Mother". He is currently preparing a new work of symphonic rock solo.
