NSP is a Japanese folk trio band from Iwate Prefecture. They were formed in 1972 by three classmates at Ichinoseki National College of Technology. As an amateur band , they were known as N.S.P.(New Sadistic Pink) , and initially focused on rock music . As their folk music style and band name did not match, they changed their name to NSP when they made their major debut.
In 1972 , 天野滋 and 平賀和人 of Sadistic Pink teamed up with 中村貴之, who had been in another band, to form New Sadistic Pink. A group of audiophile classmates recorded a live performance at the NSP Cafe at the National College of Technology Festival and brought the demo tape , which was also used in the Popcon competition , to the FM Request Hour at the NHK Morioka Broadcasting Station , where it was aired and ranked first for 11 consecutive weeks.
