Mlyk

Mlyk! is one of the leading Bulgarian contemporary underground bands, it was formed in 2003 in Sofia and soon started to intoxicate the environment with an alternative mixture of punk, ska, metal, grunge, reggae, dub and prog. The absurd positivity of the lyrics has also become sort of a band's brand. Since April 2004 the guys have been playing successful shows mostly in Sofia and their live performances are renowned for being great fun with extreme intensity, tons of positive energy, bizarre stage antics and a handful of severely mutilated cover versions of pop and disco songs popping up amidst the band's original material.

In 2007 Mlyk! played the open air Best Fest in Bucurest just before the headliners Marylin Manson which resulted in another major outdoor gig in Bucurest later the same summer. The guys also took part in Spirit of Burgas 2008 and 2009, the biggest outdoor festival in Bulgaria ever. In July 2009 Mlyk! played the Main Stage of Rokaj Fest in Zagreb to warm-up the crowd for UK punk legends Toy Dolls with what turned out to be yet another memorable performance.

The debut album by Mlyk! was produced by Bohata for Noizy Recordz and came out in late 2006. It features the band's biggest hit so far, the now legendary No One Likes the Smart and the Good-Looking that spent 10 weeks in the top 10 chart of the British Pulse Rated radio (4 weeks at No3) and topped the charts of the leading Bulgarian rock radios Tangra and Zrock. Other highlights include Brown, Wanna be a Worm, Love Song, Party Time, etc. 2007 saw its follow up, an EP called Soup and boasting some of the best works by the band: the title track (also known as Seaweed Turtle Ninja), Asylum, Peace and Love, Fun is Healthy, the latter recently topping the Download Top 20 of www.mp3.bg... In 2008 Mlyk! recorded their latest EP called Optimistic live in a school gym and its opening track Skachai had considerable chart success throughout 2009. The band has just recorded a brand new album at Britannia Row Studios in London, release date: some time in autumn 2010.
