Kid Dynamite

There are at least two artists/acts called Kid Dynamite.

1. Kid Dynamite was an American hardcore punk band formed in Philadelphia, PA, United States. The group consisted of drummer Dave Wagenschutz, guitarist Dan Yemin, vocalist Jason Shevchuk and bassist Michael Cotterman, who replaced original bassist Steve Farrell. They featured former members of highly influential New Jersey melodic hardcore outfit Lifetime. The band put out one album, the eponymous Kid Dynamite (1998) before lead singer Jason Shevchuk left in December 1999, in order to work in film. They played their final show with Shevchuk in February 2000.

Sophomore album, Shorter, Faster, Louder was released in February 2000. The band played reunion shows in 2003, 2005, 2010 and 2011 before officially announcing their break-up in 2013.

2. Kid Dynamite was the stage name of Suriname-born tenor saxophone player Lodewijk Rudolf Arthur Parisius (1911-1963), who travelled to The Netherlands in the late 1920s and became a Surinamese jazz pioneer in Amsterdam's nightlife of the 1930s. A regular performer at venues such Casablanca and the Kit Kat Club, he also recorded Surinamese party tunes. Kid Dynamite tragically died in a car accident in Germany in 1963, aged just 52.
