Dronechild

Dronechild are a Prog rock band that was formed in early 2010 when classmates Daniel Mahler, Jack McKenzie, Nick Heywood, Tom Spurgin, and Lachlan Neate began to play together informally.

It didn’t take long before the bands talents were realized. In their first ever live performance the band claimed the top prize (as Stolen by Stones) at the inaugural Ambiwerra Battle of the Bands in 2010. This win set a high benchmark for all of the bands future performances.

Following their early success Dronechild retreated into the studio, practically disappearing from outside shows to concentrate on developing their writing abilities, and to great affect. The band began work on their debut EP during the 2010 Christmas break and is set to release the Plastic Gun EP in the near future.

In recent months the band has been eager to improve both their playing and their song writing abilities, they are constantly seeking to evolve and improve their sound, as they hope to showcase in future shows.

The bands influences come from as diverse a range of artists as any, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Spacemen 3, The Grateful Dead, and from the modern era, Tame impala, The Broken Bells, and any of Danger Mouse, all serve as indicators and that good music can still be successful in the modern pop dominated world, and as an inspiration for what the band hopes they could achieve with their brand of music.
