Hailing from New York City, Danny Blu is a stigma-free artist influenced by industrial, goth, dark-wave, and 90’s alternative rock and pop music.
Performing as Danny Blu since 2011, he built his early following with shocking performances in New York clubs and queer-themed parties along with historic venues like The Bitter End. By 2015, he formed the glam pop-rock band Echo Black and rigorously toured the US and Canada, opening for The Birthday Massacre, Combichrist, Genitorturers, MXMS and Skold. As Echo Black, Danny has worked with producers Matt Squire (Panic! At The Disco, Kesha, Sum 41) and Andros Rodriguez (Bleachers, Cobra Starship, Florence + The Machine) and garnered attention from publications such as Billboard, Alt Press and the Huffington Post. After successfully crowdfunding the band’s first album, Dawn, with producers Walter Kazmier (Mechanical Vampires, ex.Kissing Candice) and Axel Otero (Lay Your Ghost, William Control), the album was independently released on Friday, October 13th 2017.
In summer 2019, Danny Blu re-emerged with a new dark pop sound. Collaborating again with Dawn producer, Walter Kazmier, he released his first solo single in over 4 years titled, Bubble. Blu later premiered the music video with Billboard Pride. The follow-up single, Burn premiered with New Now Next/Logo TV and was praised for its minimal production as "--a haunting, ’90s-indebted dark-pop ballad".
As "a queer man making intensely dark pop rock music", Danny is continually pushing boundaries with visceral hybrids in sound and visuals while waging a war on stigmas.
