dankennedy is a detroit-born singer-songwriter, left-handed guitarist whose gentle music fills area cafes, record shops, and random street corners. kennedy’s artistic goal is to create “…music to sleep to – messages that keep you awake.” The general mood of his music is tranquil and lullaby-like, but his deeply personal, no-holds-barred lyrics are achingly honest. kennedy never idealizes the Human Condition, and he writes about the ups and downs of life with sincerity and passion.

While a dankennedy album will run you through the emotional wringer, the overall experience is soothing and calm. Although kennedy questions the meaning of life, the existence of God, and the sanity of Man, there is one thing he never seems to doubt: Love. Even in his more sorrowful songs, love reigns King of all, staying afloat in a sea of uncertainty. Perhaps this is the reason his music is so effective. There is something reassuring about the man who seeks love above all things.
Be it lonely and self-created love, lustful and damaged love, or pure and honest love, kennedy writes about it, and we experience it.

Currently, dankennedy has four albums out: “My Silhouette, My Shadow [Live] (2006)” “Beautiful Imperfection. (2006)”, "As Confused As The Rest Of The Room (2007)", and "A Splinter From The Cross [Live] (2007)" All seek answers to familiar questions, but the later recordings are a bit more edgy and temperamental.


Along the way, a funny thing happened to this shy but sweet one-man-band: While trying to teach others to love themselves, he finally saw the image of his own soul. “And it was beautiful.”
