Coming from different experiences and musical backgrounds, Chemako arises from a magical alchemy comnig from the stage and the road, making them one of the most interesting band in the italian blues scene - and not only.
Gianfranco "French" Scala with his guitar find a rich soil in the rhythmic section founded in 1993 by Roberto Re (bass) and Stefano Bertolotti (drum). With them he can grow his own expressive guitar style. The result is a pure and essential sound with a deep involving strength.
Chemako is an organic musical whole, who has featured live several giants of American music like Guy Davis, Flaco Jimenez and Eric Bibb and recording sessions with Blind Boys of Alabama and Charlie Musselwhite.
Lakeetra Knowles is an experienced gospel and soul singer from Arkansas.

Chemako was also the name of a rock band from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, active during the 1990s. The blues and alt-rock influenced group was founded by Magoo, former frontman from trash metal band Mutilator. They released a self-tiitled LP in 1991, published by Cogumelo Records, and a handful of rare demo tapes, before Magoo's death in 2001.
