Artist Info: Salaskamarka

Salaskamarka was formed in Switzerland in 2000 by five brothers, including Samaysana-Rafael and Rudy Masaquiza. The name comes from the brothers' home town of Salasaka, a town in Tungurahua, Ecuador.
The group found an audience in Europe with their authentic, traditional music incorporating more modern elements. Their music is influenced by Varakuy, a rhythm with Inca origins; other influences include traditional native North American music and some Latin American pop. [read more...]
