Although the Los Angeles-based PURR MACHINE was established in 1996 under the moniker KORE, the primary members solidified their reputations with previous endeavors.

Frontwoman Betsy Martin utilized her distinctive croon with the seminal Phoenix-formed Caterwaul, a band which released two albums on the IRS label in the '80s. In PURR MACHINE, she writes the lyrics, conceives all of the vocal melodies, and has a lot of cats (they purr all the time). [read more...]
