Eugene Rhodes was doing a ten- to 25-year stretch at the Indiana State Prison when discovered and recorded by blues scholar Bruce Jackson. Unlike some of his contemporaries his music didn't free him. Even once he was free he never achieved much success believing the public wanted jazz not his country blues that was in fact undergoing a revival. [read more...]
