Souful Canadian singer whose voice brings to mind Lisa Stansfield, Charlene Smith began her career in an R&B covers band, singing the songs of idols like the Gap Band, Chaka Khan, SWV, and Vesta Williams. In 1992 she joined Rob De Boer for the producer's eclectic dancefloor project the Boomtang Boys. With De Boer working behind the scenes of her solo career, Smith signed with the U.K. label China along with Warner Music Canada and released Feel the Goodtimes in 1995. [read more...]
